6TH DAY OF CHRISTMAS!!! had a great hang-out time at the escape theme park (not that the rides are thrilling or anything) with the bunch of secondary-one-girls-to-be last night. they were great fun and hyper! full of energy that never ever runs out. haha, wonder where they got the energy from.

first and foremost, we met at their primary school to collect their good progress and eagles awards (told you they were geniuses!). then went to pizza hut at united square for lunch. and boy, aunt dorcas ordered so much food that the mothers had to order us to gobble the food up. haha. there were lots of breadsticks, garlic bread, calamaris, onion rings, fish-os and pepsi to go along. then there was the triple joy pizza, supreme pizza and two hawaiian pizzas. mmm! thinking of them makes me drool! and of course, there was the never-ending laughter and joy that came along with the meal. these girls are just so jovial. and no, they weren't any pests!!!

after that, we chilled out at chloe's house. beautiful house and big too! there was this beautiful european sofa set in her living room. white with flowery cushion. really made me thought that i had entered into some castle. then of course, there was her dog - naggy ting chua chui. haha. really cute and fat! the fact that she has a chinese name really tickled me.

last of all, we zoomed off to escape theme park. being a fast driver, my mum felt so uncomfortable having to drive slowly so that aunt dorcas can follow her. haha. at the theme park, we rode the inverter (twice!), wet and wild (twice!), viking ship (twice!) and go-kart!!! i love the go-kart the most. we had the track to ourselves and only us. yeah, that was great fun! speeding and all. haha. clarissa chickened out on that because she was afraid of spoiling another go-kart (she spoiled one at KL!). before another round of wet and wild, we had dinner at burger king.

sigh sigh! being around these girls really made me feel young and jovial again. i'm really going to miss them as i can only get to see them come march 2004. i'm looking forward to it. okay, about 3 months to go! start counting down.

Things to ponder about after watching The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

1. When King Theoden gives his pep talk to the Riders of Rohan, (ie "Today, we fight!!"), how the heck do the people at the back hear him? There are 6000 smelly men and horses after all.
Theory: There's an unseen Middle Earth AVA Club somewhere which will raise the volume of the mic he's using.

2. When riding out of Rohan, notice that the riders ride on an extremely winding path out of the gate. Why cant they just have a nice straight path?
Theory: So that the audience can notice how many thousand men and horses there are! (But we already know there's 6000!)

3. Legolas has less than 10 lines throughout the whole movie, one of which is the absolutely unnecessary "a diversion!", which induced thoughts of "yes, we KNOW!" in mind.
Theory: Who needs him to talk when he's so handsome? He's just there to attract the girls.

4. Why does Frodo have to leave Middle Earth in the end?
Theory: He wants to try and escape from NS. Maybe he got enlisted into Commandos.

5. So, if Frodo's leaving Middle Earth, where is he going then?
Theory: You see, Middle Earth is only in the middle. So I suppose he may be going to either Left Earth, Right Earth, Up Earth or Down Earth, as long as its not in the middle. -grin-

*All these were extracted from Lionel's blog. Not that I know him, but I think it's just too funny! So I decided to post it here! But I did give him the credit, so it's no plagiarism!*

i'm in a foul mood now. imagine this:
-tummy bloated like it's no one's business (checked!)
-feeling so tired but unable to sleep because dinner was just an hour ago (checked!)
both of these are enough to kill me. but anyway, the foul mood was easily driven away by jun jie and peter. thankfully! oh, of course, there's lots to talk about the chalet and the reverse bungee! yes, the reverse bungee at clark quay. the one that is twenty stories high and extremely thrilling!

first and foremost - the chalet. it was a great one! although attendance wasn't good, but still, we made the best out of it. i was teased by shimon for being so slow. that's because i couldn't get the trick when they were playing games [okay, how many sheeps jump over the wall? one is the answer! open close open close open open close! (fix eyes on the mouth is my advise!) who am i looking at? (better look out for who the person is imitating!)] 'there's a limit to how slow a person can get!' okay, i am the limit! so what? haha! gosh, i didn't sleep until 9am this morning! we (liang yi, canice, junie and i) went to macdonald's at about 12.30am and sat there till about 5.00am. it was great fun chatting. the route from the chalet to macdonald's was so long. i took that route 4 times because we went there again shortly after getting back for breakfast. as usual, cynthia is always searching for her 'inspiration'! and she found it at the toilet at macdonald's! haha!
okie, one thing to note: cynthia and jennifer really do have the chemistry! when jennifer groaned about being tired and hungry, cynthia rebuked with something that was so funny and poetic. haha!
jennifer: i'm so hungry and tired
cynthia: i'm so bloated and i need the toilet!

secondly - reverse bungee!! the feeling was 'whoa' and indescribable! this cashier girl took such a long time to collect our money because she did something wrong with the cash register. all those waiting did increase the adrenaline rush! when we (canice and i) were finally seated in the bungee, these two cool-looking in-charges came over to help us with the seat belts! haha! canice noted that one of them was so cute that she 'fell in love' with him. *gosh!* when you are seated in the bungee, the bungee will move backwards so that you will face the sky. then, after a count of ten, the bungee flies upwards. you can feel your heart flying upwards to your mouth too. the scenery up there is breath-taking. i've never seen such a beautiful sight of singapore. the beautiful waves in the river water, tall buildings and passerbyers all made up this unforgettable scene. we were allowed to stay high up, viewing this scene for quite some time before we were transported down slowly. this experience is definitely great! i would recommend all to try it out!

whoa! yeah my previous entry was kinda like your typical gp essay. thanks peter for his view on mixed-race marriages. this view is sure reliable as he's a product of one such marriage. haha. sounds lots like gp huh? arrgh! talking about gp, i've not touched that jillian lee's homework! dead meat! but who cares? it's the holidays!

finally, the day i was looking forward to the whole holiday is here. the annual (can it be counted as annual? this is the second chalet this year!) 4 truth class chalet!!! yeah! very glad to be able to meet all the secondary school classmates. although i've met most of them during the course of this year. (at least those who are going! hmmf! those who didn't go without a reason should go smack their arses! cynthia put in so much effort to get all the preparations done!) haha. anyway, it's great to gather together under one roof once again. lots of catching up to do. gossips and all. that's what girls do best.

yesterday was great! i didn't know i could actually build rapport with those secondary-one-girls-to-be. seems like the age gap problem is slowly but steadily dissolving in thin air. they seemed to have grown up a lot since the gathering last year. all these geniuses are definitely a fun-loving, not to mention - adorable, bunch of girls! i had a methodist, a paya lebar methodist, one ang mo kio secondary and one mayflower secondary girl in my house. chatty bunch who laughs a lot! bringing the house down manz! these smart girls did great at psle! the least score was at least 230+. how's that? honorable yeah? haha.

okay, frankly, I didn't know that mixed marriages could bring about so much trouble. especially for the mixed-race kids (as depicted by Rebecca Woo). actually, i don't think such a scenario is happening in singapore so i agree with Bill Lowe's argument. the mixed-race kids (or eurasian kids) are stereotyped to be good-looking people who have the best of both worlds. ain't it? *shrugs*

Mixed Marriage. Cross-culturally miserable?

With today's society becoming much more liberal, mixed marriages are much more common than they used to be about fifty years ago. Couples of different races are often seen on the streets, walking hand in hand. But no matter how acceptable they appear today, mixed marriages do cause heads to turn and eyebrows to raise. They are still not whole-heartedly accepted as normal occurrences, especially in some of the more conservative and exclusive communities. This cultural mix can cause many problems, both for the couple involved and their immediate family. Before any kind of major involvement, one should always consider one's duties to the family, to the children and also to oneself.

These considerations are especially true for the Chinese race. Historically, the Chinese have never been open or particularly enthusiastic about foreigners. They have always considered themselves a superior and exclusive race calling their own country the 'Central Kingdom" and themselves "the People of the Central Kingdom". Foreigners have always been scoffed at and colloquially are called the "ghosts" or the "sub-humans".

Even today, many Chinese people bear this attitude and it is still indoctrinated in many families. The majority of Hong Kong's population is still Oriental and any foreigner will stick out in a crowd. A mixed couple will create even more of a spectacle and cause more talk and remarks. People can be very cruel and judgmental, and make a lot of sarcastic and disdainful comments about that "girl or boy who was not good enough to find a Chinese spouse and had to resort to those subhuman." And while the comments of others may seem trivial, in today's society, the importance of one's reputation should not be taken lightly. It affects one's social opportunities, employment and even happiness knowing that gossip centres around oneself is not exactly a pleasant feeling.

The children are the ones who eventually suffer the most, yet they are the most innocent. Is it their fault that they look rather strange, not quite Caucasian but definitely not Chinese either? Should they have to bear the brunt of scorn and prejudice? Ultimately, they end up with the greatest insecurity. Due to the fault of their selfish parents', these poor children have no idea which group they should join, or where they belong. Should they go about playing Frisbee and football with the Western children, or stay inside and play Ping-Pong and jump-rope with the Chinese? Should they speak in English, or listen to the scornful reception of their foreign accented Chinese? These problems, seemingly trivial to adults, are actually traumatic decisions in the eyes of a child, as are all types of rejection and hurt. The jeers of other children, yelling rude comments of "mixed!" and "half-ghost!" can cause great damage to a child's self-esteem.

Not only do these children have to face the disdain of outsiders, but of the family as well older generations of the family think of them as half ghost and a symbol of disgrace someone who has deliberately broken the homogeneity of their Chinese heritage. Consequently they tend to give this child less rare and attention which only hurts the child even more.

Not only does the marriage cause tension and difficulties within the lives of the children and family, there exists the very basic difference in tradition and customs. The first and most obvious thing: should the wedding ceremony be a Chinese or a European one? Also, which should have the bigger celebration? Christmas or Chinese New Year? The family, vital in Chinese society, is a lot less significant in Western culture.

It is hard for Westerners to understand the importance the Chinese place on family meetings and family dinners. Often, three generations of grandparents, parents and children assemble each week for a meal. How would the foreigner feel in such a situation -- a very intimate and personal gathering -- when the conversation centres around relatives and family life?

Mixed marriages, therefore, can only result in more unhappiness than happiness. I am not advocating blind submission to all social prejudices. Rather, I believe that one should always be aware of the consequences of going against the social norm. In this case, the suffering of many innocent people appears to be the overwhelming result. The couple themselves, too, do not exactly have an easy marriage of total bliss. Perhaps it is time to stop being so idealistic and come all barriers.

The world we live in is a practical one, and those who are different and stick out will only create problems for themselves and other innocent people. Life is a lot easier if as long as we face up to reality of society today.

Cross-culturally happy

Come August, my Chinese wife and I will celebrate 20 years of hilariously happy marriage. Like hundreds of Hong Kong couples who are partners in cross-cultural marriages, our marital success confounds the groundless prejudice of those who continue to predict disaster for unions such as our own. Fortunately there aren't many of them left, but the few remaining prophets of mixed-matrimonial doom utter warnings which are simply not supported by the facts. "The children are the ones who suffer most," they say.

At five years old, our son answered heavily loaded enquiry as to his origins by drawing a vertical line downwards from his head with a jam sticky forefinger. "Half Chinese, half English," he laughed. To him it was a silly question and his line drawing provided a silly answer. Today, at 18, he comments, "Being neither wholly Chinese nor wholly English just isn't significant. I'm myself!"

From different cultures come different customs, and each partner may enter marriage with a great deal to learn about the standards of the other. They may choose to add up the differences or to evaluate the many similarities; to concentrate on conflict or measure the mutuality of interests.

In our case there is a shared love of music that ranges from Mozart to Count Basie but which does not include Cantonese opera. We enjoy Chinese food, be it Cantonese, Shanghainese or Chiu Chow but wouldn't give a thank you for Western junk food.

Our tastes in food, music, literature and a thousand other things have undergone changes; we have learnt from each other. Twenty years ago she didn't know Mozart from muzak and I thought that preserved eggs really were 100 years old. Today our tastes take no account of our cultural origins. They are our choices, dictated by neither Chinese nor English traditions.

All this is probably disappointing to socio-racial bigots who -- in their narrow minds -- would have me don my barbarian bowler before singing a rousing chorus of Rule Britannia.

Would they have my wife discard her jeans and T-shirt to parade eternally in a cheongsam? Do they, I wonder, see our son confused and unloved because he does not receive surreptitious nudges from wholly Chinese friends who hiss a conspiratorial "We Chinese?" Unwanted by wholly English friends because he doesn't know a square-leg from a silly mid-on?

As it is for us, so it is for others. Writer Barry Parr speaks for himself and his Chinese wife: "Ours is a marriage of two individuals, not of two people defined by their respective cultures. It's just the same for newspaper editor Robin Hutcheon and his Eurasian wife: "Being married to someone of an ethnic background different to my own has enriched my life. We didn't marry because of --or in spite of -- our different backgrounds, but simply because we fell in love."

Like Esther and I, these couples have no cause for regrets; nor have the MacAlpine family: Elinor Wai-ling, her husband Mark and sons Christopher and Richard. Elinor says that Mark is her father's favourite son-in law. So much for sadly misinformed opinion which suggests Chinese family rejection of Western in-laws. We visit our families -- hers and mine -- only on high days and holidays and we are always welcomed. By comparison. Barry Parr and his wife are in the company of her family two or three times a week; a family into which Barry is totally integrated.

The suggestion is made that Chinese people consider themselves "a superior and exclusive race" who look down on foreigners, designating them "ghosts" or "sub-humans." If this does occur, such silly notions are not exclusively Chinese, for every group has its share of biased bigots.

Today, thank heavens, such attitudes are confined to the closed-mind opinions of Victorian -- or Confucian died-in-the-wool dogmatists. There is simply no evidence to support the idea that more inter-racial marriages fail than those between people of like backgrounds. Upon enquiry, I found that Hong Kong's Divorce Registry does not even bother to record racial origins. Why should it? Race is not a failure factor. The talk of racial barriers, of' superiority and inferiority, of problems and outcast children, is dangerous and divisive nonsense. It should be dismissed with the contempt it invites from those many happy couples who are living, proof of its obnoxious falsity.

2ND DAY OF CHRISTMAS!!! this christmas is definitely not that bad after all, since it didn't rain all day on christmas day. hee! *dreams on* i'm dreaming of a white christmas...

drove to causeway point yesterday! went to jack's place for dinner. unfortunately, they didn't note down my mother's reservation. so we had to stand outside the restaurant like statues for almost half an hour before we were allocated a table. when we finally settled down, i took a look at the menu. yuck! i didn't like any. so i ordered a crayfish and chicken grill from the ala carte. i had to forgo the desert, soup and tea. never mind that. just by thinking of the sizzling chicken and delicious baked potato can make me drool. i totally enjoyed the dinner. it was great. plus, there were some party hats and novelties given. my silly sister was playing with those like a little child, despite the fact she's turning thirteen next year. however, the ambiance here was different from that of the ang mo kio branch. i still like it better at amk jack's place. wonderful memories there!

today, my sister's friends will be coming. let's see, wen yi, wen yuan, chloe, clarissa and kyna will be coming. sigh, i never bothered talking to them because of age gap i think. and my other sister claims that i was 'acting cool'. no i wasn't!! i must protest!
'with great power comes great responsibility!' and today, i have a job to do. which is to 'teach' aunt kah yee how to make her daughter (wen yuan) change her mind. aunt kah yee wants to transfer wen yuan to saint nicholas' primary school. but wen yuan doesn't want because of God-knows-what reason. haha! have a wonderful christmas!

IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY!!!! wow wee, another year has passed and it's this special day once again. to all fellow bloggarians, happy christmas and have a wonderful new year ahead. yes yes, it's going to be the hectic j2 year, but still got to make the best out of it, eh? haha!

last night was great. roasted turkey, baked ham, sparkling juices (cocktail, white grape, grapes and cranberries) and ice cream log-cake (oreo cookies flavour!) were the dishes on my christmas eve dinner menu. the food was wonderful. christmas music playing in the background. totally enjoyable. however, if only it was snowing and i had a fireplace at home, that would be even more perfect. all my siblings and i had our christmas hat on. we took some pictures too! ain't it a great way to celebrate christmas? being together with my family to spend this wonderful christmas eve together.
also, there was 'the christmas wish' show which was aired on channel 5 at 8pm. it added laughter and joy to this already great enough night. my uncles (or whatever it is called in chinese, i don't have any idea how to name them) came all the way from china (gosh! that place!) to singapore. unfortunately, they knew nuts about christmas! so, had to leave them out of this.

today, another dinner at jack's place restaurant (a place for steak...)! i love it there. the food's great, ambiance is wonderful. the meat warming up on the sizzling plate (sizzle sizzle sizzle), with delicious baked potatoes (not to mention the cream, bacon and spring onions to go with it) and savouring ice-cream for deserts. not to miss the soup too. i love soups. okay, that's all for now. shall blog tomorrow about the wonderful dinner.

**Happy Birthday Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour! today's the 1st day of Christmas!**

whoa whoa whoa! i now have a new cedarian in my house. a companion. together we will have to put on our ties every morning before going to school. that's my sister, my mad and loud sister. introducing mandy! haha! unfortunately, her dreams of going to singapore chinese girls' were dashed by the fact that she is posted to cedar girls' secondary school. although sad, her cool-on-the-outside personality helped in maintaining her happy and not-bothered front. what's deep down inside? nobody knows. and today, actually at this very moment, she is at cedar girls', reporting for orientation. i hope eventually, she will grow to like the school and be a proud cedarian! cheers! merry xmas!

I shall now award The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King the coveted title of "Best Movie of the Year 2003". This is the third and final installment of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It depicts the story of the journey taken by the Fellowship of the Ring to destroy the One ring which Dark Lord Sauron created and have been wanting to get back badly. The Fellowship consists of 4 hobbits (Frodo Baggins, Samwise 'Sam' Gamgee, Peregrin 'Pippin' Took, Meriadoc 'Merry' Brandybuck), 2 men (Aragon and Boromir), 1 dwarf (Gimli), 1 elf (Legolas Greenleaf) and 1 wizard (Gandalf).

Indeed, this movie was mind-blowing. No lack of eye candy (you've got it! It's Orlando Bloom, needless to say.) and action. The battle scenes were phenomenal! Orcs and Uruk-hais versus the Men (dashing Aragon leading after the loss of Theoden king of Rohan, Wizard (Gandalf the White), Hobbits (Pippin and Merry! Oh, they were so cute when they tried to run during the battle!), Dwarf (Gimli) and Elf (the oh-my-gosh-good-looking-suave Elven prince Legolas Greenleaf!!!) Lots of slashing of swords, good archery skills shown (especially my dear Legolas who never misses any shot), skillful horse-back riders and courage. Totally enjoyed it.

Of course, (this is it, Peter!) the part where Legolas went up the oliphaunt and shot down one whole carriage-like thing of orcs using his amazing archery skills, and swinging from one leg of the oliphaunt to the other is my favourite part of the whole over 200 minutes long movie. All was done with so much poise and grace that will be sure to stun you. His lovely, long, slicked-black blonde hair, with plaits at the side, neatly pulled back behind his oh-so-lovely pointy ears was never out of place. My favourite part of this four-minutes-long of Legolas-only footage was the part he swiftly slide down the long nose of the oliphaunt and smirking at Gimli upon touching down on the ground. "That still counts at one!" Haha! No way, Gimli!

Another one of my favourite character is Pippin. He's just so child-like and adorable. The way he sang to Denethor II, the steward of Gondor (father of Boromir and Faramir) was just so cute. And also, the way he sweared to be of service to Denethor II was also doubly-cute. Of course, I love his accent. His Scottish accent never fails to perk me up. In this movie, he was thought to be the ring-bearer, putting him in grave danger. Gandalf escorted him to Minas Tirith (capital of Gondor). He is just so mischievous! And you know, naughty boys never fail to grab girls' attention. Together with Merry, they showed great courage that most hobbits wouldn't, fighting the Battle of Middle-Earth alongside Gandalf, Aragon, Legolas and Gimli. The smile he gave when he caught the bouquet of flowers during Sam's wedding was really heart-melting and funny.

This movie really helped answer many questions one had after watching the first two installments. It satisfies all your curiosity. A great movie to catch and it really deserves 5 popcorn!

I'm just very into the gorgeous Legolas Greenleaf as The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King opens in cinemas today! He's just everywhere around Orchard Road, pictures splashed at the side of the roads. The pipe leading the saliva to my mouth has been spoiled as a result, lots of drooling whenever I see his picture. How elegant, good-looking he can be. A hair never out of place when he fights. All these craze over this beautiful elf made me dedicate this blog to him. This explains my blog layout.
Unfortunately, because of being so blur, I booked tickets for tomorrow. So, whoever who has watched it, please don't give me a synopsis of the story. I've never read the books too! I want to go into the cinema, being a total-LOTR idiot, and watch the movie, anticipating every single scene.

Love Actually - a great movie to catch so as to improve the damp Christmas atmosphere over here in Singapore. Christmas, as depicted in the movie, is a season of love and giving. Boy, do I love Christmas. However, this movie also concentrates on the ugliness of mankind - as in our male counterparts who shared this beautiful Earth with us (the women) - infidelity or unfaithfulness. The movie is sort of divided into eight parts, of which two parts talks about men's infidelity. One part, sadly, focused on the fact that women can also be unfaithful. (all thanks to stupid keira knightley!!)

Part 1: Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) and Natalie (Martine McCutcheon)
Poor Mr Prime Minister is so in-love with this beautiful food-caterer Natalie (or Plumpie). Natalie is this beautiful, but plump (yes plump!) girl. She is famous for a big buttock and fat thighs (hmm, sounds familiar!). Nevertheless, this doesn't stop Mr Prime Minister (or David) from falling in love with her. This hopeless-romantic guy knocked 101 doors in this dorgy street in England just to find Natalie after receiving her Christmas card. (All together) Awww!

Part 2: Jaime (Collin Firth) and Aurelia (Lucia Moniz)
Jaime, a writer, went to the south of France to nurse his re-broken heart and write a story (a thrilling one with lots of murder!). His housekeeper, a Portuguese woman (named Aurelia), is a woman of few words. The language barrier added to the fact that both of them seldom communicate. Jaime once said while driving Aurelia home that 'silence is golden'. Haha! After going back to England, Jaime decided to learn how to speak Portuguese and went back to ask for Aurelia's hand in marriage. Nice guy he is. But however, please do note that he did slept with a woman whom he proclaimed to 'love a lot' before leaving for France. Unfaithfulness can be seen here. The funniest part of this part of the movie is a line that Aurelia's sister said. When Jaime asked if Aurelia would like to live with him in England or him to move to stay with her, Aurelia's sister said, "Of course to England! Then you can meet Prince William and marry him!" Haha, my sentiments exactly.

Part 3: Harry (Alan Rickman) and Karen (Emma Thompson)
Third party in this relationship. It comes in the form of Harry's secretary. She's one hell of a seducer. Because of that, she got Harry to buy her a Christmas present (a golden necklace). When Karen found the necklace in Harry's pocket, she thought that was his present for her. On Christmas Eve night, Karen got a CD as a present instead, leading to her being suspicious of her husband's infidelity. A sad and touching part, I must say. Third parties always spoil the relationship. Sigh!

Part 4: Daniel (Liam Neeson) and Sam (Thomas Sangster)
It is a strong father-and-son relationship between Daniel and Sam. Daniel tried to help Sam, whom he thought was grieving over his mother's death. It turned out to be that Sam fell in love, with an American girl named Joanna. Joanna was the school belle, with lots of guys wooing her. Daniel encouraged his step-son to go all the way to get her. And literally, Sam ran through airport customs just to find Joanna. Very lovely!

Part 5: Juliet (Keira Knightley) and Mark (Andrew Lincoln)
Definitely the part I dislike most - female infidelity. Juliet is a newly-wed bride who discovers that her husband's best friend, Mark, is secretly in love with her after watching the wedding video shot by him. The video shows mostly Juliet, in close view. So during Christmas, Mark went to Juliet's house and use cards to express his love for her. Although it is really a lovely thing to do, but Juliet should stay faithful to her husband. Instead of that, she ran out and gave Mark a kiss. Sheesh!

Part 6: Billy Mack (Bill Nighy)
This is the comedy part of the movie. Aging musician Billy Mack is trying to get a Number One on Christmas day. And his rival is Blue, the R&B band. He did covers of many songs, changing 'love' to 'Christmas'. When he did get the number one spot on the music charts, he realise that it wasn't being invited to the all-stars-only parties that matter. It was love. And the person he love is his fat manager. But not in that sense, you know what I mean. Nice!

Part 7: Collin (Kris Marshall)
Another unsightly thing about men - their crave for sex! This lecherous Englishman reckons that he cannot find love in fellow English women as they are too arrogant. So, he booked a ticket to USA, where he feels he can easily get sex. True enough, he earned a night stay at a house belonging to 4 drop-dead-gorgeous women who are so poor that they can only afford one bed. They were so poor that they couldn't even afford pyjamas. And so, they slept naked with Collin. Sluts!!

Part 8: Sarah (Laura Linney) and Karl (Rodrigo Santoro)
Oh my gosh! I simply love Karl. He's just so sexy and delicious and handsome! With or without the glasses, Karl is just so irresistible. Of course, he attracts the attention of Sarah. And luckily enough, Karl asked Sarah for a dance at the Christmas party organised by their company. After the dance, they went to Sarah's apartment. However, before they could make out, Sarah's mentally-unstable brother called and spoiled the relationship. This short-lived love ended after that fateful night. Sad! But hey, I am happy that Karl does not belong to Sarah. Haha!

In short, this movie is worthy of your time. So catch it soon enough! Merry Christmas! Before I forget, nine more days to Christmas. Enjoy this season of joy and love. I really enjoyed this show, actually.

the car reversed into the car porch of my house on a lazy saturday afternoon (it was yesterday. i forgot to add this into my last entry.). carrying my bag full of math stuff (i just came back from math tuition), i carried myself into the living room. feeling very tired, my eyes rolled onto the dinning table. sitting comfortably on the glass top of the beautiful european round table was a letter from the college board. it was my sat score! although i never thought sat was important as i wanted to further my studies in the uk where sat was not an entry criteria, my heart started to pound very fast.
"hey mummy, what do you think my sat score will be?" i asked excitedly.
"my guess would be about a thousand odd." my mother replied nonchalantly.
"if i get above 1200, i would definitely apply for a us university!" i said, eyes fixed on the envelope.
i opened the envelope with care and slowly. with ever tear, my heart beat increased exponentially. finally, when i took out the sat score, it was written: "440 for verbal, 720 for math"
oh my gosh, that would mean a total of (let me see, 440 + 720. what's 440 + 720?? why! i can't even do a simple arithmetic sum now!)...
"1160." my sister cut in quickly. (yeah i know, this little sister of mine is another math powerhouse.)
never did i expect myself to get 1160. i was above my expectation, in case you are wondering. i thought i would get around 900. haha! i know, that's being low in self-esteem. but you can't expect me to get so high a score, considering the fact that i knew nuts about the paper format and did not do a single sat paper until that fateful day (1 November 2003).
ok, some might feel that my sat score is just mediocre. but to me, a score of 1160 is definitely satisfying enough. i can safely say that i am not going to re-take it. so now, sat and project work are off my list. let's celebrate! hurray!

Quiz Craze (really sorry about putting up so many quizzes! haha!)

rose bud
Your soul is bound to the Rose Bud: The
Naive.

"I keep all of my secrets somewhere inside
and though I haven't let myself shine to the
world, I'm good for something but too good to
give to you."

The Rose Bud is associated with innocence,
curiosity, and confidence. It is governed by
the god Cupid and its sign is The Dewdrop, or
Puppy Love.

As a Rose Bud, you may have grand ideas about love
and you may well be inexperienced. You tend to
be optomistic, idealistic, and curious, but
it's just because you like being a positive
person. You also may have high thoughts of
yourself, and can come off a bit conceited, but
it's just a mask to hide your lack of
experience.

"O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo.
Deny thy father and refuse thy name, be but sworn my love"

Friend of mine. Girl of definite beauty and poise. Loved by many, regardless of gender. Good listening ear to turn to in times of trouble or joy. No doubt a great company. This time, her heart's taken by 'Mr P'. May their love last, but not turn out to be that of Romeo and Juliet.
True, they might be one of the most loving couple ever depicted by Sir William Shakespeare, but also one of the silliest pair. Dying because of 'love at first sight'. Not that this sort of love is not to be believed. I do believe in 'love at first sight', as well as 'love at second sight'. Friends should know what I mean by that.
Flowers blossom in times of spring. This winter love is one to cherish. May 'Mr P' treat this lovable friend of mine well.

What the heck was I thinking? Nope, I was crapping. But, I think that particular friend should know what I mean. All the best, my pal! Cherish the love and believe in love. Peace!
Whoa, I just love Shakespeare! He's just too witty.

It's the holidays. Holiday homework is pilling up. You don't give a damn about them. You just sit there and rot. Life is becoming meaningless. You log onto the internet after lunch everyday and chat with your friends. Sounds good. But it isn't so all the time. Many of your friends are overseas. You just envy them and continue rotting. They can be in the United States or Melbourne, but you are in the sunny (or not? it's the monsoon!) island of Singapore. Nevermind that. Singapore has never been great in your eyes. So boring! Sigh! Looking forward to your class chalet is the only hope of life. And tomorrow, you'll have to drag yourself back to school just to pack some things for next year's orientation. Double sigh! BUT, we must stay positive. Be optimistic and live life to the fullest!! Are you doing it? Certainly not. Better go and think it through again.

Yesterday, Michelle met up with Mery. This is the first time Mery came back to Singapore after leaving for Australia after Secondary 4. Meeting her too are Nyuk Khim, Elizabeth (better known as Lisa), Canice, Cynthia and Jennifer. Poor Michelle stood at the Orchard MRT station for almost 1 hour just to wait for all of them to arrive. *Sob sob*While waiting for Mery and Nyuk Khim to arrive, they met Shimon. He was like "Why got meeting never invite me?" Haha, why would they right? Afterall, it was an "all-girl" meeting. Haha!
They had lunch at Crystal Jade Restaurant. Mad Canice ordered Five Spices Beef Noodles, Red Bean Sesame Ball, Crispy Spring Roll, Steamed Pork Bun (Xiao Long Bao) and Guo Tei. Manz, that really made Michelle real full. Haha! Overall, it was an enjoyable meal. Chat, eat, chat, eat, chat and eat. Haha!
After strolling around for quite some time (Canice bought the Christmas Hat too!), they decided to settle down at Coffee Bean. Michelle and Canice bought drinks and a log cake. Mmm, delicious! They chatted, ate, chatted, ate, chatted and ate. Living the life of a "tai tai". Haha!
Mery will be leaving for Indonesia tomorrow (10 December 2003), they will all miss her lots. Hope she'll visit again soon!

Today, Michelle logged into Friendster as usual. And, she received a message from Petrina. Petrina said, "yes he's
singaporean truly. no doubt. but he's holidaying in america at this moment. =)" My gosh, the urge Michelle had to fly to America right away was like "whoa"! Although physically impossible, her heart has flew there for sure.
Michelle's sister, Mandy (or Maddy!!), will be tightening her braces. Haha! No more good food for her for the next few days. So, she'll be visiting Orchard again. What a life?

Haha! After that fateful day (16 November 2003), I decided that I was too lousy at HTML and shouldn't try it anymore. But today, being another boring Sunday, I decided to conquer HTML once again. This time, I think my chances of winning the battle is much higher. Haha! That's a great improvement! So here's my new blog. What kind of programme are you?

Which Tarot card are you?

Manifestation through will. Imagination, concentration, action. Spirit and Matter united. A young man raises a doubly terminated wand in his right hand. The wand is held vertically, a tool for the unification of heaven and earth. His left index finger grounds this duality into creation drawing from the original chaos to bring into being the flowers of creation. His aura is shown as the horizontal figure eight, symbol of eternity, while about his waist is wrapped the serpen-cinture, the serpent devouring its own tail, another symbol of eternity. In front of him are the creator/magicians tools, wands, cups, swords and pentacles, symbolizing fire, water, air and earth.

Which type of anime character are you?

You're An Intellectual! You can always be found reading or on the computer. People always come to you when they need information. You don't really care about love at this point, your only goal is to improve your mind. After all, knowledge is power!

Which Final Fantasy X character are you?

Yuna - You are a gentle person but you will do anything to do your duty.

Which Care Bear are you?

Which state is perfect for you?

Oregon is a nice place, isn't it? Yes, it is. You should live there. So should I. As of now it's not crowded, but you never know. So ummmm, ok...Oregon....yeah.

What kind of kiss are you?

You have a dominant kiss- you take charge and make sure your partner can feel it! Done artfully, it can be very satisfactory if he/she is into you playing the dominant role MEORW!

How attached are you to your boyfriend?

You don't worship him you do kinda care sort of or it is not that big of a deal for you or you got other stuff cramed in your head.

Which season are you?

You're Most Like The Season Spring ... Fresh faced, with a young outlook on life - you smile at the world and expect it to smile back at you. You're mostly a bubbly, fun - innocent person. Described as cute possibly. However, you're a little naive about things and tend to be a little too trustworthy. As the first season, It Makes you the youngest - and so most immature - but people are inclined to look out for and protect you. Well done... You're the most fun of the seasons :)

Which Lord of the Rings race are you?

You are an Elf! No, not a pixie, an Elf! Tall, strong, intelligent, good looking (Note: Legolas Greenleaf! Enough said?). The Elves were created with more beauty than any other creature and they were made to possess greatest happiness and deepest sorrow.
Elves are also immortal up to a point. You will never grow old, and you will never die of natural causes. Because of this, death is unfamiliar to you, and you may live 1000 years with your people but never see death with your own eyes.
As an Elf age simply heightens your natural beauty, your hair is spun like gold or woven silver or polished jet, and starlight glimmers all about you, on your hair, eyes, silken clothes and jewelled hands. There is always light on your Elven face, and the sound of your voice is various and beautiful and subtle as water.
But people often mistake your people as pretty forest dwellers, when you are more than that. When in a battle situation you can be the most fearsome warrior on the field. Stronger than the average Human, more fluid of movement with the sixth sense of a spider, the hearing of a wolf and the eyes that make a hawk look short-sighted. Only a fool would go up against an Elf single-handily.

Watched 'Never Been Kissed' last night. And I fell head-over-heels in swoon with Michael Vartan. Michael Vartan played the drop-dead gorgeous Literature teacher, Sam Coulson. If he was my Literature in lower secondary, I would surely have loved Literature. He's so yummy!! A combination of Michael Vartan and Sir William Shakespeare's works is a totally awesome package manz!

Yummy Michael Vartan! I love him manz! He's my idol!!

Second try at baking brownies. This time, I passed!! People loved it. Ok, so I am getting another pack tomorrow and baking it again! Yeah! Blog next time. In the mean time, I am going to turn the net upside down to get more pictures of Michael Vartan! Drooling at the same time of course!

My aunt, along with his son (Kelvin), came over to my house to make pizzas today. Had a fun time learning how to make them. Her pots were damn good, so there was no need for an oven. How amazing is that? Haha!

Went through my library of mp3s and found Mandy Moore's I Wanna Be With You. I think it really describes my feeling now. Haha! Read and you will realise. Haha! Blog next time!

I Wanna Be With You by Mandy Moore

I try but I can't seem to get myself to think of anything but you
Your breath on my face your warm, gentle kiss I taste the truth, I taste the truth
We know what I came here for
So I won't ask for more

[CHORUS]
I wanna be with you
If only for a night
To be the on who's in your arms to hold you tight
I wanna be with you
There's nothing more to say
There's nothing else I want more than to feel this way
I wanna be with you

So I'll hold you tonight like I would if you were mine to hold forevermore
And I'll savor each touch that I've wanted so much to feel before, to feel before
How beautiful it is
Just to be like this

[CHORUS]

Oh, baby
I can't fight this feeling anymore(anymore)
Drives me crazy when I try to
So call my name and take my hand
Can you make my wish, baby, your command(command)?
Yeah

[CHORUS]

Oh yeah
I wanna be with you
Wanna be with you, ooo, yeah
I wanna be, I wanna be
[Repeats]

Wow! Back from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Finally, an update on the trip!

28 November 2003:
Board the coach at about 8am in the morning. Arrived at the Singapore Custom. Unfortunately, my cousin (Kenneth) had to be sent back to extend his passport as it has his expired. Sheesh, all because of one stupid private (as in private in his NS camp). Haha! The whole trip lasted almost 7 - 8 hours. Sitting on the bumpy coach sure was boring. Luckily, Mandy and other cousin (Brandon, or simply called Braddy) entertained us by being mad. Haha, they belong to the Maddy Club [comprising of Mandy (or Maddy as founder) and Braddy]. Braddy bought a red sleeve-less shirt because Kenneth said it was time to change his style. Haha! So funny!! Had some steamboat for dinner. It was awful!!
Kenneth's Adventure: He was escorted to the bus-stop near the Custom by a police officer. He thought that officer was going to escort him to the place to extend his passport. So, to save time, he flagged a taxi. The queue there was so long and that took him quite some time. After extending, he took a taxi back to Tuas. The taxi driver told him he couldn't bring him to the Malaysia Custom. So, Kenneth had to walk the long stretch from the Singapore Custom to the Malaysia Custom. After passing the Malaysia Custom, he took a taxi to Johore Airport to get a plane to Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately, the plane left 5 minutes before he arrived. So, he took a taxi to Bajaya Time Square (where we were at). The taxi driver had a modified driver seat with arm rest and everything. Damn amazing!! What a weird adventure for Kenneth!!

29 November 2003:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOANNA! Although I couldn't wish her. Haha!
Day for shopping!!! And also the indoor theme park. The rides at the theme park were not very thrilling. Boring!!! Haha, but the shopping was good. Had breakfast at Delifrance. There was this very sissy waiter called Baby. Braddy was so disgusted by him and so we teased Braddy about Baby the whole day. I bought the X2, Bruce Almighty, The Itallian Job DVDs and 2 Fast 2 Furious VCD. Also, I bought a Billabong pants, a blouse from Ocean Pacific and another blouse and skirt from Hang Ten. I was the Fashion Advisor for them. I chose all their clothes for them. Haha!! Kenneth bought the exact same shirt as the one Braddy bought yesterday. Had dinner at Nippon Teh. Food looked good, but tasted ordinary. Haha!!

30 November 2003:
Last day at KL!! Did some last minute shopping. I bought another Hang Ten jeans to wear during the coach trip as it was really cold on the way to KL. Had branch (breakfast + lunch) at some Chicken Buffet Restaurant. The food wasn't good. Sigh! The food at Bajaya Time Square really suck!! Haha! Board the coach at about 3pm. Back to Singapore finally. At the Singapore Custom, I was so scared that they will find out that I was smuggling chewing and bubble gums. Kenneth was asked about it, but luckily I wasn't. Phew! Ok, finally back and very happy to be able to touch my computer again. Haha!
