michael phelps wrote on his facebook that he listens to "a milli" by lil wayne before his races. well, it does depend on which race he is going for, but then he likes listening to that song. HAHAH. i was listening to it and it's GOOD. as in, i've listened to it before and i already liked it before. I'M SURE OF THAT.

michael phelps et ryan locte adore lil wayne. moi aussi.

richard gasquet finally gave up mentally and lost to veteran tommy haas in the FIRST round of the US open after FIVE grueling sets. premier tour! MY GOSH. he is really unlucky with the draw in this last grand slam of the year. oh boo. i was WOEFUL when i heard he lost. my heart broke into pieces. sigh. WHYYYY. apparently he also entered the men's doubles, but i do NOT see his name in the draw. at least if he plays doubles, i can still see him. he looked SO CUTE as per usual in the match. i like his yellow tennis racket bag, which has his name on it.

the US open has been pretty exciting so far. ivanovic, the number one seed for the women's singles, was KNOCKED out by a french lady, whose last name is "coin". its read as "quah", for those who cant read french. HAHAH. this has been my highlight of the first week of the tournament. also, federer seems to still be playing with such elegance. i think this is his speciality, to be able to play with seemingly so little effort but win matches. i suppose such elegance can never be replicated in tennis in the future. federer will always be the king of sophisticated tennis.

i realise i don't really write much about my life. instead, its almost always "richard gasquet, michael phelps, ryan lochte" or some other sportsmen. i can't help it. my life is just, boring. on a brighter note, i have ended my internship! which means i can revert back to my life of waking up at 1pm and sleeping at 4am. and, i can watch the US open matches.

i concede, i've finally gotten round to knowing some of my fellow interns better, like cheryl (i cannot forget her random wishes for ordering in yammi yoghurt), renee (walking around in her flip flops) and kieren (who is trying to pick up singlish but sounds so funny with his scottish accent). so it's not THAT bad. and i had candace with me, thank God for her! but still, im a bummer at heart.

oh yes, some of the interns call me "gasquet", as in mrs gasquet. HAHAH. which makes me a really happy girl everytime i hear that. je suis tres heureux!

and yes, one interesting thing. thanks to my gourmet friend, huong, i tried mexican food this week! vlatka was suppose to come, but she had conference call in the end and couldn't come. huong is really nice to talk to and i enjoyed my dinner date with her. hehe. she really loves her boyfriend, i realise. and i hope one day i can be like that too.

and so french lessons have ended. ive completed a term at alliance française. it was so fun! i got to meet really interesting people (of which all of them happen to either be engaged to or have caucasian boyfriends! hmm). and my french tutor is really interesting. he looks like a hippie! hahah. huong, vlatka and i gave him a brownie after our last lesson. and he looked really touched. he kept saying, "merci beaucoup!" hes leaving singapore for another asian country. i wonder when will be the next time i'll see these classmates of mine again. the world is so huge.

from french to mandarin, and here's ryan lochte's take on mandarin.

"what else, ohhh, the word Gombay is used kind for a toast and it means finish your drink whether its full or not you gotta finish it, great word i brought it back to the states haha jeah!"

i read that from ryan lochte's blog at swimroom.com and its SO CUTE. i think he meant "gan bei", which literally means "dry your cup (of beer/wine etc)". the way he types his blog and speaks is so african american vernacular english styled. he goes like "peace out", "jeaaahhh" (which i suppose he means "yeah", cause in some languages, like german, 'j' is pronounced like 'y') and adores lil wayne (whom he always refers to as wheezy f baby).

i think angmors are cutest when they try to speak mandarin. what a better classic example than michael phelps, who picked up basic mandarin to gear up for the beijing olympics. i simply melt when he went "gah zhi" (when he was trying to say "guo zhi", which is "fruit juice" in mandarin). and his "zhe ge nu hai zi zai she shui" attempt at saying "this girl is drinking water" (zhe ge nu hai zi zai he shui).

NI HAO, MICHAEL. WO AI NI.

GAH. I MISS THE OLYMPICS. THE WATER CUBE. PHELPS AND LOCHTE ON TV! :(

oh say, can you see by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous flight, o'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? and the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. oh say, does that star spangled banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

this commentator is the funniest i've ever heard. he was speaking during the monte carlo open 2005 match between richard gasquet and roger federer. my dear managed to win the world number one! and he looked so cute and such a baby. he was only nineteen! beat that, beating the world number one at nineteen! :)

the most humorous lines in the match:
at the last point, just before gasquet claimed his victory over federer, the world number one challenged the frenchman's forehand, although in vain (hahah, too bad!). the commentator imagined what gasquet would have said to federer, "don't just come into my forehand like you think it's a weak shot, i'll punish you! now this is the time. i gave you a couple of chances. you're history now, pal."
gosh, this is classic commentary.

anyhow, my mother, brother and i brought louie to vivo city on friday! it was so fun bringing him around. many gave really hilarious shocked faces when they realised theres a dog in the pram. hahah. i enjoyed laughing at people's expressions. and it was louie's first time in a shopping mall, which makes this so memorable. oh how im going to miss him when i go to london! :(

i discovered the charm of ryan lochte. the second fastest swimmer in the world after michael phelps. but he really doesnt suit the curly hairdo. not everyone does (read: gasquet). with short hair, hes such an eye candy! his body isnt as good as phelps though. still, i must concede that hes got those cute dimples. and hes won a gold medal for the 200m backstroke in the beijing olympics! THE US SWIM TEAM ROCKS BIG TIME! the US of A is my adopted nation for the 2008 beijing olympics.

why is he always raising his arms? but who cares when he looks like that!

oh yes before i go, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA! :) je t'aime beaucoup! MWAAAHH.

anyway, time to sleep so that i can wake up early tomorrow to cheer on phelps in his 4 X 100m medley relay finals. GO PHELPS! and LOCHTE! :)

michael phelps just broke his world record. OMG. he is super fit. every time he comes on the television, i hyperventilate. HAHAH. just check out that body, chiseled every way a guy's body should be. a fine work of art. God created michael phelps, and i should celebrate that! hahahah. and of course, as mark richmond nicely put, phelps has that "aww i don't deserve it" bashful face when he received his gold medal for his amazing performance at the 400m individual medley at the 2008 beijing olympics yesterday!

when he looks humble and chuckles, he has this look.

can anyone not melt at this? just look at that smile! :)

okay jokes aside, i still love gasquet. but this, this is just phenomenal. hahah. i love the olympics!
