today is my last day at lee&tan advocates and solicitors. it was truly an enriching experience. i learnt quite a bit during my short stint at the law firm of my dad's friend. i answered phone calls the way a professional secretary should, used the fax machine and typewriter and stamped on registered mails. it was all a novel, enjoyable learning journey. now it is time for me to bid farewell to lee&tan and look forward to varsity education.

peter: i'm so tired that i think i will just plop onto my bed.
i find the verb 'plop' very interestingly hilarious. the merriam-webster dictionary explains: 'to allow the body to drop heavily'. whenever i hear the word 'plop', the scene of a zombified person falling hardly on his bed, resulting in his bed sheets being crumpled and his pillow flying all over the place, would appear instantly in my head.

i'm such a sucker for romantic ballads. (:
shania twain sings, "cause i'm keeping you forever and for always. we will be together all of our days. wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face...always."
then the beautiful ms twain choruses, "you're still the one. you're still the one i run to. the one that i belong to. you're still the one i want for life. you're still the one that i love. the only one i dream of. you're still the one i kiss good night."
celine dion belts, "you were my strength when i was weak. you were my voice when i couldn't speak. you were my eyes when i couldn't see. you saw the best there was in me. lifted me up when i couldn't reach. you gave me faith cause you believed...i'm everything i am because you love me."

it was three lovely days of wholesome good fun under the sun, albeit it was raining during much of the first day. nonetheless, i didn't allow that to throw a wet blanket on my family. we spent our day doing facial treatment and french massage. very luxurious indeed. my brother, being out of place at a spa centre, headed for kids club where he got to know two adorable french-danish babies - maris and louis. both of them are mini 'celebrities' there because they have visited the place so many times. these two darlings - i'm in no way a paedophile or cradle-snatcher - also played with us at the beach. they enjoyed sipping our drinks - high sourball for maris and shirley temple for louis. both of them ooze delirium and innocence and are high on the 'aww' factor. my siblings and i adore them a lot.
of course, the beach would be a boring place if not for jet skiing and canoeing. taking into consideration that canoeing isn't my forte, i retardedly tried to row the canoe but failed miserably as i frequently hit the rocks. nevermind, practise makes perfect. it was my first time anyway. (: jet-skiing was absolutely enjoyable. i got to taste the freedom the bountiful body of sea evoked, the bumps resulted by the wave motion and the cooling breeze from the high moving speed of the jet-ski. my inital thought of bintan being crowded with singaporeans was proven wrong by hordes of korean and japanese tourists and many expatriate families from singapore. that's a truly international stay in bintan lagoon resort. danke. merci. tak. arigatou. kamsa hamnida. xie xie.

adorable louis at the beach humming 'twinkle twinkle little stars'.

maris looking a tad serious. hmm.

but his smiles can melt your heart.

as june lurks, the time for us, the university applicants, to decide our future is round the corner. i've been denied a chance to read law in nus. right, i expected it anyway. my wise self told me to appeal to law, and i've decided on that. so now, it's either nus law for life or smu business for a year (afterwards, it's england baby!).
nus business school is plebeian, absolutely. the school is so horribly unpopular that they had to resort to marketing the holistic characteristic of nus (the arts and sciences being in the same campus), nus overseas colleges and its exchange programmes. basically, no one i know is certain that he/she is going to nus business. to make it all worse, some third-year student, alex wang (faking american accent all the way), sang an original song 'chocolate coca cola' to make the freezing lecture theatre even colder. i'm striking nus business school off my list.
gorgeous kiwi, whose birthday is on 19 may, just turned 18. he smokes. eeks.
kl (gosh, where the hell did he disappear to? i've not been talking about him in ages!) is heading to oxford university to do philosophy, politics and economics (ppe). i love oxford university! maybe i really should give it a shot. (:
i'm off to bintan. water sports await. yippie!

it's been aeons since i last saw the guys of my darling class - 03s54. so the day, i christened 'coincidental day', began with the meeting of pearline and jincheng. this poor ns boy, who was like a big pop star dressing down in order to not get recognised (think of the cap, baggy jeans and a shirt one size too big), told us a lot about basic military training (bmt) life, injecting a lot of drama (the exaggerated reenactment) and humour. jinny's always the person to go to for a big laughing fit. pearline and i were shocked to know that the army puts the university placings of the guys at risk. anything undesirable happening, anything at all, could jeopardise their varsity education. that's really serious, in my opinion. they shouldn't do that at all. what has firing a shot one second earlier/later got to do with going to university? it's the man's future, for goodness sake!
a day out with jincheng is utterly harmful to your diet plans. our itinerary, extemporaneously planned by jincheng, included delifrance lunch, tea time at tea chapter, evening break at swenson and dinner at breeks. four food outlets in a day! i can't believe i did that. anyway, it was an experience of a lifetime. right, i realised i have yet to explain why last saturday was at all coincidental. firstly, we met irwan at breeks. then, i met joey at orchard mrt station with a girl he claimed to be his ex-girlfriend. that explained his absence from our meeting, albeit i highly doubt the reliability of his 'excuse'. it was great to be able to see so many of my dear classmates all in a matter of a few hours. i love 'coincidental day' - may 14'05. yet again, coincidentally, peter's birthday.

damien rice's "the blower's daughter" has been haunting me. "the colder water. the blower's daughter. the pupil in denial. i can't take my eyes of you..."

i'm getting my first car - the red honda jazz - today!!! i'm going to pick it up (not literally) later and drive it home. yippie! i'm absolutely exultant!

i just stumbled upon a blog of a singaporean enjoying her holiday in britain. and yes, during the elections period. she commented that the hype over prince william is overrated. she wrote, "as confucius might have said: if there is no fish, prawns will suffice. bring 'em blair boys on baby!!!" while i still remain loyal as a fan of prince william (think of the enormous inheritance, amazing good looks and blue blood running through his veins), i don't doubt a possible mayhem arising due to an almost-equally stunning euan blair. yes, tony blair might not look a tad gorgeous, his son is otherwise. so, of course, if you can't get hold of his royal highness (fish), you would be happy to settle for euan blair (prawn). anyway, in modern times, the prawns cost more than the fish. confucius is out-dated already. therefore, i agree with this boy-crazy moblogger. bring the blair boys on, baby! ok, maybe just one of his sons. nicky blair is not cute. he looks like a further blown-up version of jamie oliver whose waistline is steadily increasing. leo blair is freaking cute and i would be an unforgivable paedophile should i harbour such thoughts, ala michael jackson. i want to live at 10 downing street! fat hope, slim chance.

i love mcfly's song. "winter, spring, summer or fall, all you got to do is call. and i'll be there. yes i will. you've got a friend." i know. i seem to have gone british-philic, loving all things british. no no! i'm not.

i am now working at lee&tan advocates and solicitors, a law firm located near outram park. bloody boring. luckily i have email-pal, pearline, to entertain me.

wicked! iamgoingtoperth with pearline from 4th to 8th july. yippie! valuair's birthday promotion rocks!

man: oh, you are from saint andrew's? do you play rugby?
yours truly: err, nope. it's a guy sport.
after questioning me about my switch from science to social science (law), and me struggling to answer without sounding senseless,
woman: what's your take on 'integrated resorts'? do you think senior minister goh should have declared himself a gambler in public? what do you feel about the government's focus on elitism? how do you feel about youngsters today?
basically, these law lecturers don't allow you any moment of silence, other than the few seconds i used to ponder over their questions. i managed to make the man laugh, but the woman obviously expressed her boredom by colouring on a piece of waste paper. thanks woman! this is indeed an atypical interview. good experience i must say.
law test was tantamount to throwing one of the rocks at stonehenge on your head. registrar of criminals indeed! i actually attempted to make changes to the pseudo-proposed new paragraph for section 4 of the criminal act. impressive bravery! just remember the key phrase: 'valid reasons'. thankyouverymuch.
a domestic or international flight? God will be my pilot. (: may day! if only i could be ubiquitously onboard both flights. anyhow, happy labour day. yippie!
