it was a typical wet morning in the not-so-sunny island of singapore. but the children had lady luck smiling at them. the rain stopped before their outdoor activities period. delighted, the teacher fervidly took a rug to dry the slide. unknowingly, a centipede was caught in the rug. when she found out, she vigorously shook the rug to enable the centipede to fall off. this led to an exclamation from one of the students, "oh no! the centipede fell down!" ahh, innocence at its best!

i love my dad's credit card company! i had retail therapy recently, courtesy of their vouchers. loads of cds, tops, earrings and skirts are added to my steadily increasing collection. i am ecstatic.

what an artistic shot! TENNIS ROCKS!!!! it's a nice social sport. fun and friends - an absolutely great combination.
i don't care if you think the tennis background is ugly. i made it myself and i am proud of it. (:

mornique, when i claimed that she is a loser and meant to be with her current crush (whom i commented a loser too!) as "losers get together!", rebuts, "no, after much thought, i am not a loser. i didn't wave at him when he waved. i was waving to his friend, who was in front of him."

mandy, disgusted by her cheenafied primary school classmates' bad tastes in music, uses the msn message function to show her contact list the songs she's listening to, shakes her body and exclaims, "i'm cool! i'm cool!"

this is for weiling! thanks for that super sweet dedication of love. i didn't know i would be included in your "cast blog". i am very touched. a thousand appreciation for making me laugh whenever i see you, especially with your exaggerated re-enactment of everything under the sun. i'm grateful that you're a part of my life.

i am rather disappointed to have missed my smu obs-styled freshmen orientation. the term "freshies" needs some getting use to. those of you who think that i am feigning illness to escape the very possibly tiresome camp, i have two rounds of antibiotics to complete. evil people!

God, please bless su-wei's granddad who is struggling to pull through this crucial fourty-eight hours. give him strength to fight this battle and may Your presence be with him, oh Lord. let us all pray. i thank you all on behalf of su-wei's family. God bless.

the frog had nice, smooth grass-green skin. it was not like any other ugly toads you see dwelling near the pond. it resembled the frog the ministry of environment uses for its campaigns. anyway this frog joined a race, a race to the top of the hill. cute as it was, it was being looked down upon. amongst the panel of judges, views were divided. some stood firm on their stand that it'll fail. others would gladly vouch for its success. to prove themselves right, the latter group buried their heads in the given information to analyse and present their thoughts. the race went on, with the frog doing its outmost, showing its capability and perserverance. its diligence paid off! it won! then, something, that seemed like it was just torn off a fairytale book, happened. there was a menagarie of light shining brightly from the frog. in a flash of light, the frog disappeared. a good looking boy, who was dressed in bermudas hanging on his hips and had spiked hair, replaced. the crowd cheered for this outrageous happening. however, good things don't last. a prince came to challege the new winner. the next race would require more sweat, strength and fervour. i place my bets on the frog-turned-prince. go figure!

michelle: gosh, i am happy for you, mandy. now it seems vindictive for anything miraculous to happen. no disapproving looks would be received.
mandy: *quietly, smiles widely*

michelle: why do you keep calling 'xiao ting tang' (raymond, our tennis coach)? he is not answering at all.
mornique: *keeps quiet, and gives a dejected face similar to one a girl gives when she's been recently rejected or dumped by a boy*

i reckon my sisters like conveying their thoughts via silence. and i am intelligent enough to understand. (:

in days of yore from western shores
oldham dauntless hero came
and planted a beacon of truth and light
in this island of the main.

here may it stand from year to year
emblem of grand endeavour
the regions round echo the sound
of acs forever.

sing acs forever more,
our acs forever.
God save our land and heaven bless
our acs forever.

our students hail from china's plains
and the land of rising sun.
we have many sons from india's strand
and the islands of the main.

our hearts our hopes our aims are one.
no discord e'er will sever.
we'll stand together for the cause
of acs forever.

sing acs forever more,

mornique gropes her face in disbelief and, at the same time, exclaims, "eh! why am i able to...oorrrhhh! i still have my contact lens on!"
how silly. but that was a darn hilarious moment that i had to write down.

jessica noticed todd's constant eye contact. todd would look over at jessica whenever he could. and he did that blatantly. jessica love playing with todd's cute little brother, terry. terry had lots of attention from jessica, as a result. in order to steal some of that away from terry, todd started to tease terry quite a bit. initially, jessica only felt flattered. soon, she came to realise that todd is indeed a good looking boy and, subconsciously, feelings for him grew.

freagging hell. look at how beautiful the concert hall of acs barker is? government-aided school indeed. plus their rich alumni. so unfair!

i have finally gotten my laptop. but blardy bitch, i realise that i don't have my windows recovery disc. smu might just take away my license to use it after i leave. what the hell. urrggh. nonetheless, i am happy currently. (:

i had great fun in perth with su-wei!! and boy, those surf shops galore! i think mandy would be very much suited to stay in australia. but of course, that would just perpetually burn a (hmm, millions of them, really) hole in her pocket. as a girl, and a shopaholic one, i just cannot resist the temptation of swiping that new debit card in exchange for tonnes of lovely surf brand tee-shirts, jeans, bags, wallets, thongs (not the underwear. the flip-flop) and big pencil cases. it's such a worthy deal that i cannot possibly pass on.
and i love the temperate weather in perth. although it might be really cold in the night, but a trusty warmer would make you all comfortable again. oh, and those codswallop about australians being racist, throw them aside! because i wasn't racially abuse throughout my time in perth. the customer service there is of absolutely high standards. the people greet you with, "hello. how are you?". in singapore, you get that emotionless stare at the ground, looking up only when you are about to pay and that irritated "two dollars!!". even su-wei, my dual-citizenship-holder friend, who has been living in perth for the past few years, seconds my thoughts. i would love to migrate there as well. but then again, my dad wouldn't be able to survive with so many caucasians around him. haha. he's really proud of his chinese roots.
late night prank calls. putting on british accent. catching up with su-wei. tv marathons. surf shops hopping. flashing card and cash. people watching. jumping around because of the extremely cold floor in su-wei's house. getting warmed up in kings perth hotel. visiting university of western australia. being jealous of the nice infrastructure in that university. catching sight of a boy who bears an uncanny resemblance to kl. giving thumbs-up to valuair's services.
it was all a good trip. i enjoyed myself thoroughly. a picturesque account of it for viewing pleasure.

michaela and su-wei soaking up the sun despite the chilly winter.

haphazardly thinking: crushes are parts of growing up. everyone experiences that phrase of their lives, including my sisters and i. and i am glad that they are around to share my woes and happiness. my cousin, brandon, is going to be saved by the Lord! i am glad for him.

i am currently in willetton, perth. it is damned twelve degree celsius. much warmer than switzerland and paris, you say? no, i somehow feel that this perth winter is quite worse than that of switzerland and paris. i toured city center with pearline and suwei yesterday. once i stepped into myer (an australian heaven for shopaholics), i flashed my new debit card and bought five tops at a go. i really don't care about the currency conversion. i also bought quite a bit of chocolates and sweets, for my dear family in singapore.
mornique was really nice to send me an email, attaching her regards. i felt touched. talking about family, while i was sleeping in a very cramped up single bed, i dreamt of mandy and brandon. he was asking mornique, mandy and i to meet him at j.a (i have no idea where that came from and i stupidly asked him, in the dream, if "j.a" stood for "jurong avenue"). afterwards, i immediately questioned him, "are you indirectly asking mandy out?" which he just simply kept quiet (very much like how mandy would respond whenever i asked her about brandon).
i am off for some home-made lunch, courtesy of suwei's grandmom. i would be moving to kings perth hotel tonight. finally, a good place to sleep, i hope.

"when i first came, my grasp of the english language was really bad. i just started liking you then. so every night when my friends were having fun, i'll sit by myself in my room, flipping the dictionary to check the meaning of your text messages. sometimes, i wanted to tell you something but i didn't know how to express myself well. therefore, i would check the dictionary, or ask my friend to translate for me. he'll always read my text and laugh, which made me wonder, 'damn, if only my english were better then i wouldn't need him to do this for me'. on other occasions, i'll ask him to text my thoughts in english to you, even at the expense of my humiliation."
this is probably the sweetest thing that might happen when a relationship begins to blossom between a couple from different language backgrounds.

random comment: "life is like a two-piece-puzzle. you are born with one piece. and in your life, you strive to search for the other piece, which belongs to the most significant robber of your heart."

wild card venus williams won the russian with the loudest grunt, maria sharapova, in the semi-finals of the wimbledon open with an amazing game, ending with scores 7-6, 6-1. it is going to be an all-american ladies' final, with number one seed, lindsay davenport, whose skills were tested to the limits (score: 6-7, 7-6, 6-4) by the french volley virtuoso, amelie mauresmo, running alongside miss williams for the coveted title. swiss olympian roger federer expectedly triumphed over australian prodigy, lleyton hewitt, with three straight sets (6-3, 6-4, 7-6). my hopes are now on mandy moore's ex-squeeze, andy roddick, to challenge roger federer in the upcoming gentlemen's final. go mr roddick!

i find badminton's world number three, peter gade christensen, absolutely attractive because he is so atheletic! he's turning twenty-nine this year and looks far from that. some scandinavians are just really cute! sadly, the indonesian taufik hidayat made it impossible for my favourite dane to clinch the title of 'singapore open champion'.
