One was told that Simon's French vocabulary when the match was slipping from his grasp was as rich as most meals from his home country, so we should not leap to decry Murray too quickly. - Times Online
Simon, the world No 9 and the second-ranked Frenchman, doesn't have the charisma and the slam-dunks of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, he doesn't have the sublime one-handed backhand of Richard Gasquet, and he doesn't have the energetic celebrations of Gael Monfils, but what he does have is a great tennis brain. - Telegraph UK
the above two excerpts have been sitting in my blogger draft since 13th november. i love how the authors describe simon, gasquet and the other french players. i like flowery languages. hahah.
it's been quite a while since i first kept those excerpts in my blogger draft, and i have only revisited blogger a few moments ago. it's amazing how time has flown by me. true, school hours might seem the longest when you're in the most boring class ever. but the last year of my university life has been swift, to say the least. for one, my modules have been pretty interesting, except for jurisprudence (which, if not for its complexity, can be quite intellectually stimulating and hence 'interesting', in a warped sadistical sense).
i just had really really cheap italian food (ie, pizza, but i mean the nicely oven-baked thin crust truly italian pizzas, and not those thick and gross ones you get from over commercialized pizza huts, which coincidentally have renamed themselves - at least sporadically in london - 'pasta hut') from pizza express. ive always walked pass the outlet at bow street while walking to school, and ive always admired how pleased the patrons inside look. and today, ive got a taste of how it feels to be behind those glass window panels, for a change. it was really delicious. but what made it better, was the company of my dear law schoolmates. it finally felt comfortable to be in a group of friends again. ive been struggling to feel comfortable in large groups, because often i do not know a large bulk of them well enough to say anything. but with these friends, i felt at ease and we just had so much fun talking about the most random things. and then i had an epiphany (which is why i had a sudden urge to log into blogger and type this out). i realize that even if you have more friends than other people, or hang out in big groups (thinking you're the coolest gang cause of the sheer size - im sure almost every kid in primary school thought it was the coolest thing to be in the biggest clique!), you're wrong to think that you're most fortunate. i think one is most fortunate when he or she has friends who really understand him/her, friends who adore him/her, friends who remember more than just his/her name (or to bother to even remember his/her name even, at least), friends who do not just say hi and bye to him/her when they see him/her, friends he/she can share ups and downs with, friends who care about him/her (not only when he's/she's ill, although coincidentally i am popping tons of pills into my mouth and using tons of tissues to clear my runny nose).
since the joyous occasion of christmas is coming, i want to take this opportunity to thank the fewfriends (in the true sense of the word) i really treasure here in london. i dont think i need to list them, and i think they know who they are. from the bottom of my heart, je t'aime beaucoup, mes amis! :)
Joyeux Noël! Happy Christmas! :)

on november 15, 2007, at the ATP shanghai masters, richard gasquet had just lost to david ferrer. and he was being interviewed by the press. the conniving (but oh so genius) interviewer posted these two really really awesome questions.
Q. Now your matches are finished. Do you still have any plan to go around the city maybe with your uncle or your girlfriend?
RICHARD GASQUET: My uncle? No. My girlfriend, no. I have no girlfriend, so I will try to find one, one Chinese girl. Why not? Why not? I lost 6-1, 6-1. It will be very hard for me tonight. I'm ready to lose, you know. Q. Who is the girl watching your match with your uncle? RICHARD GASQUET: Not my girl. I don't know. Not my girl, for sure. No, no, no, I have just friends. Men friends, but I'm not gay.
OMG. gasquet, if you ever want a chinese girlfriend, c'est moi! :)
hahahahah. im hyperventilating. this is so awesome.
on top of discovering this wonderful interview, i saw this adorable photo of gilles simon at the shanghai international airport. just look at the intensity of his gaze.
my mommy, mornique and mandy are leaving for shanghai! in like, an hour! which reminds me, i should remind them to get signatures and pictures for me! i so want to go there too. shanghai is the place to be right now. gosh.
a pig, named 'amanda', invaded my home in singapore! HAHAH.
and i totally miss paris. i miss paris so much, it's insane. boo. ):

ALLEZ OBAMA! it is such a joy to wake up to the fact that he has been elected president. how queer it is that the whole world is watching and anticipating the results of this elections with such great interest. its as if the whole world is electing along with america. God bless the USA, now that obama is president, let the blessings flow even more. (:
on a, uhm somewhat, 'different' note, president nicolas sarkozy de la republique française is such a humorous person. and this blunder at the G8 submit was just classic. on top of these cute antics, he married a gorgeous model. and now, he is the president of the european council. really interesting to watch!
politics is really fun when its not something to be studied in school. and thank God, im not doing politics.

looking for some stuff, baby, this evening. i need some hot stuff, baby, tonight. i want some hot stuff, baby, this evening. got to have some hot stuff, got to have some love tonight.
ALLEZ GILLOU! JE T'AIME BEAUCOUP! TU ES TRES MIGNON! :)
more on paris bercy to come. succinctly, ive seen most of the top players on the ATP race list! rafael nadal (i was like literally less than a meter away from him), roger federer, novak djokovic, andy murray, nikolay davydenko, andy roddick, juan-martin del potro, jo-wilfred tsonga (who really got the french crowd going nuts), gilles simon (who is really really cute, my next favorite french player after richard gasquet!), david nalbandian, gael monfils, marin cilic, michael llodra and arnauld clement!
OH YES. squish was so lucky. on top of getting nadal's signature, he looked into her camera once! and we've got the shot! YAYYYYY! here's the evidence.
j'aime beaucoup paris. je veux rentrer à paris maintenant! total withdrawal symptoms. oh boo! ):
on a brighter note, i took a picture with guy forget. and, i managed to get his signature. i even spoke french to him. i said, "je voudrais un photo avec toi!". on hindsight, i should have said "je voudrais un photo avec VOUS." but it's okay, he understood me nonetheless. HAHAHAH.
as usual, i bought copious amount of tennis magazines that are in french and je ne comprends pas. but there were really really nice pictures in them. and because of these magazines, my room has become a tennis shrine. hahahah.
gasquet is simply the cutest everrrr! yes, i have not forgotten him, despite simon!
gosh, the french do look really good in their suits, don't they? :)
more when i get more photos from diana. and when i'm in a more blogger-ish mood. (:

i need to travel.
and in twelve days, i'll be in lyon and paris.
je vais bientôt à paris, et lyon!
away from work, away from mundanity, away from routine. a fresh environment, a french environment.
i think i just want to be anywhere else but here. as much as i love london, at this very moment, i wish i were in either geneva, paris, disneyland, san francisco, or new york.
the beautiful flower clock in geneva
the shimmering eiffel tower of paris
the happiest place on earth, that is, disneyland
the ancient cable car of san francisco
the majestic lady liberty of new york
i'm feeling nostalgic about these places.
and yes, i took these pictures. which is why it is evident how bad the photography skills are.
and it's not just wishful thinking,
or only me who's dreaming.
i know what these are symptoms of.
we could be in love.
