eight young adults were showed into a room. the room was like a typical place office boys/ladies will allow their youth to flitter away. there was a round table. the eight people sat round it. inside the space surrounded by the four walls, there was deafening silence. that's till some bimbotic looking, dressed-in-bright-yellow-top-and-holding-an-equally-bright-handbag girl, who spent the past few minutes putting on lip gloss and admiring herself with her pocket-sized mirror, started mumbling to her fellow tjc friend. suddenly, i preferred the silence. after an agonising waiting hour, and my hands had already turned ice-cold by then, a plump man came in, told us what to expect and ushered us into yet another room. this time, it's a big seminar room. oh, cool! at the front of the room were two men, who i assumed are lecturers. they started questioning us about 'the new singapore dream'. however, such intelligent topic started to fade away from our discussion. we started talking about homosexuality and traditional family structure. before going overboard, we went back to business and talked about the lovely prospective university of mine - smu. we tried licking their boots by praising the university. thankyouverymuch, they seemed pleased. all in all, it was a great experience. a first-hand taste of what life in smu would be like should i join. if the offer letter comes, my reply would be 'why not?'
