i have been in london for almost a week already. it's been madness. settling down in a new flat, getting use to school (after three months of slacking), drowning in piles of never-ending readings, attending to all the obligations i have. but i guess i am slowly adapting to this lifestyle again. studying in london has caused me to lead a double-life.
ever since coming back to london, i always get bouts of surreal familarity. there are pockets of familiarity in a place that is supposedly foreign. it is just so queer to feel like i know this place (london) well when this is not my home. it amuses me everytime i start feeling nostalgic, when revisiting places that i share many year one memories.
oh, and it never fails to startle me when i realise i can use the word 'back' on two places so far away. "i am going BACK to singapore" and "i am going BACK to london". it's like i belong to two places at once. hmmm, food for thought!
to stun everyone, i actually fried vermicelli! and it tasted not too bad. a little burnt, but i can work on that! :) it's a pity i don't have pictures to provide evidence. a lot of people are sceptical of my ability to cook. hmph.
i went to the ikea in london today! it was so fun. i am going to beautify my room and when that is complete, i will post up pictures.
